Javelina Leap Vineyard Winery

We are a second generation, family operated, premium boutique winery with award winning wines. All Javelina Leap wines are 100% Arizona grown grapes, produced and cellared on site. Our estate vineyard & winery is located in northern Arizona’s historic Verde Valley in Page Springs/Cornville.

Javelina Leap Vineyard & Winery processes approximately 44 tons of Arizona grown grapes, equaling about 2600 cases of wine. Matters of Tasting Room Etiquitte

There are a few matters of etiquette that apply at most tasting rooms around the world. Familiarizing yourself with this etiquette will help you feel more comfortable.

Get Your Taste Buds Ready

It is important not to smoke, use mouthwash or toothpaste, chew gum or mints right before and during the wine tasting. This can effect your taste buds and diminish your ability to fully enjoy the real flavor of the wine.

The Beauty Of Wine Tasting

The purpose of visiting a tating room is to find out what you like before buying it. It’s that simple. The more wines you taste over time the more educated your palate will become. It’s normal to like sweet wines when new to wines and move into the dryer wines as your palate becomes more discriminating.

Using Any Heavy Scent

Because smell is such an important aspect of wine tasting, courteous tasters try not to interfere with other tasters’ ability to smell. This means scents such as perfumes or after-shave lotions are undesirable. These foreign odors can definitely interfere with your fellow tasters ability to detect the wine’s aroma and linger in the air long after you have left.

Spit Or Swallow

Swallowing the wine you’re tasting is perfectly acceptable, most people do. If you intend to swallow consider using a designated driver. Swallowing every wine you taste isn’t really necessary in order to taste the wine fully. Just swishing or holding it in your mouth for 10 seconds or so is sufficient. Swirling the wine in the glass and smelling it before you sip enhances the experience. Alcohol is absorbed more slowly on a full stomach. We offer artisan charcuterie boxes to go made in house and assorted artisan boxed crackers created to pair with wines.
